Mineral Name: Star Sapphire (Corundum var. Sapphire, Black shade with natural asterism.)

Locality: Queensland, Australia.

Dimensions: 0.58" x 0.38" (15mm x 10mm)

Characteristics of this specimen: This is a tumbled, raw black star sapphire--the asterism is more subtle than cabochon-cut stones. The black color is rich, and the sapphire has not been enhanced.

Care Notes: Corundum is a very hard and durable stone, second only to diamond.
