Mineral Name: Shattuckite and Malachite
Locality: Kaokoveld Plateau, Kunene Region, Namibia.
Dimensions: 0.65" x 0.58" (17mm x 15mm)
Characteristics of this specimen: Bright blue shattuckite with bright overgrowth of green malachite. Habits may vary from botryoidal to fibrous.
Care Notes: Shattuckite is a rare copper silicate hydroxide mineral that was formed as an alteration product of other secondary minerals. Malachite is a copper carbonate mineral which is a secondary mineral growth after primary azurite. It should be kept out of the elements and away from water.
