This is a medium sized, highly collectible specimen from a world famous locality: Tsumeb Mine, Namibia, which is rightly described as one of the most important and diverse mines on earth. The unusual cluster is bright green fibrous malachite which has encrusted native copper, resulting in a lustrous, verdant specimen with the texture and shape of both minerals—it is mounted but also possesses several beautiful display angles. This is a highly collectible specimen with a unique and striking combination of minerals--it would offer a lot of beauty to any specimen collection.
Tsumeb Mine is a world-famous Cu-Pb-Zn-Ag-Ge-Cd mine, renowned for its diversity, aesthetics, variety and abundance of precious ores and mineral specimens. It is noted for 243 mineral species, and is the type locality (original locality of discovery) for 56 types of minerals. Some of these minerals are only found inside the mine.
