Characteristics of this specimen: Covellite is an indigo copper sulfide mineral; while not an important copper ore, it's popular with mineral collectors. It may also display raspberry red or brassy yellow reflections, and is associated with chalcopyrite.
Care Notes: Covellite is extremely soft (1.5-2 Moh's), so care must be taken to keep it from being scratched. Like all metallic minerals, it should be kept away from the elements and out of water.
