Characteristics of this specimen: a slim, scalenohedral (bipyramidal) pale yellow calcite crystal.
Care Notes: Calcite is a 3 on moh’s scale—handle with care, and keep out of water and prolonged sun exposure.
PHYSICAL: Calcite is the most abundant carbonate mineral, which forms in the widest range of varieties of any mineral. Common forms include rhombic, dogtooth (a pointed crystal), or scalenohedral (bipyramidal—pointed on either end).
