This softly shaded little beauty is a natural scalenohedral (bipyramidal, also known as "stellar beam" by healers) yellow calcite crystal. It has terminations on each end, better formed on one side and more raw on the other. The crystal has natural areas of damage and chipping that have not polished out. This distinctive crystal is a classic mineral specimen from Elmwood Mine, near Carthage, Tennessee. This sparkling miniature crystal crystal is equally prepared for display or use as a killer jewelry focal. An ideal and efficient addition to any mineral collection!

Formation: The Elmwood Mine near Carthage, Tennessee, is a heavy metal mine that yields minerals such as sphalerite, galena, and fluorite. It has also been associated with a deep orange calcite. However, these amazing pockets of golden yellow crystals were recently discovered. Calcite is a calcium carbonate mineral that forms in a multitude of growth habits. One of these is scalenohedral, or bipyramidal, crystals. (Elmwood is currently operating for ore, but is no longer producing mineral specimens due to orders from the owners.)

Healing: Yellow calcite is associated with insight, clarity of perception, and willpower.
