Characteristics of this specimen: Galena is a lead sulfide mineral, which forms high density, low hardness shapes in the isometric system (e.g. cube, octahedron, dodecahedron, etc.). Galena tends to form crystals which are most lustrous when newly exposed, and become more matte textured as oxygen exposure occurs.
Care Notes: Like all metallic minerals, this mineral should be kept out of the elements, out of water, and never used internally.
